Camping near Red Rocks Ampitheatre
Looking for suggestions on camping near Red Rocks for the Dispatch show coming up. Is there any decent primitive/at-large camping within an hour or 2 of the show? Thanks a bunch!

I don't have any specific suggestions for you, so this won't be much help and I am sure someone will chime in with specifics, but one or 2 hours from Red Rocks is a pretty large area and there are a ton of places...check out this website:

it list camping sites by town. You could try Golden Gate Canyon or Chatfield State park."We had nice 3 days in your autonomous mountain realm last weekend." - Tom from Austria (the Rax ski guy)

chief hosa isn't exactly "primitive", but it does prove to be a good time.
we usually headed down towards 285 and camped in the Ark valley, but only because we were living down there.
as you head S on 285 there is likely camping on FS land near kenosha pass

Or even closer than Kenosha pass...turn left off 285 at Pine Junction, drive 8 miles to Buffalo Creek, hang a right on RD550 and find a spot. Bring a mtn bike.
