Cannon was amazing this weekend. Saturday storm day with fresh tracks. Sunday bluebird with actual packed powder.
    Closing day today.
    People just don't come skiing.
Cannon will be excellent for uphill. Best days skinning up and it's quiet and dogs running around.

Windshield time worth it. Was hoping storm continued into the weekend, but still pretty soft on Saturday made for some good leftovers in various Kmart glades.

Hadn’t visited in probably a decade, but has long been nostalgic ski stop for me since I was a teen (DD for my dad and brothers)

Bluebird w ripping groomers in the morning and soft spring snow a plenty rest of the day.

Made for a great way to end my season

    beautiful vistas above.
    great scores, all.
    KT roof cam FTW

scored third single and touched down at 5:35.
no real traffic getting there meant arriving 1hr before first chair.
took a bonafide warm-up lap, first tracks on groomed way down..
    pretty fun.
first time i *ever* did that at MAD.

ski-on lifts much of day making for some very cooked legs.

nice scene at summit for eclipse incl large exile group from k.

props to mrg for trusting their customers, reminding all of 3:00 ''last chair" for summit watching.

    totality was totally ;0)

massive traffic on 22A south and on 87S around glens falls past midnite.
home at 12:30 on the dot. just under six hours!

We were there too! It was stellar. An absolute ball lapping the goods off of Cannonball. I think Profile was skiing as good as any groomer on the East I've ever skied. No speed limit coming down! Loved it. And Mittersil laps Saturday were phenomenal.

And finally caught a tram ride up. As an aficionado of the world's chairlifts that was cool. Great mix of giant old New England barn and Societ brutalism.

No rope...hmmm. Classic Cannon...just don't hit the snow making pipe! And peering in...did you go? It was probably good out there.

I remember when they pulled the t-bars out and put that chair in, it was big deal. Skied there a lot when I was at Plymouth State.

"For the 1990-1991 season, the state spent $2.5 million on improvements at Cannon, including installing the Cannonball quad chairlift and expanding snowmaking capacity. An unfortunate consequence of this project was the clearing of the wide Cannonball/Profile slope, which has plagued the upper mountain with wind problems to this day"

Killington was excellent, soft snow Saturday and Sunday and nobody on the mountain, especially on Saturday. It was the last days for Bear so did a not too challenging run on OL. Also the last days for Needles Eye. They lost a lot of snow from the 20" storm last weekend, but plenty of snow on the mountain. We watched a bit of the pond skimming and there were some great outfits. I plan on going up next weekend unless the weather turns to shit.

I removed my snow tires last Tuesday, and it still hasn't snowed since.

I did run up to the River today for a few after-work laps. It started spitting raindrops on my windshield as I left work, sky was looking rather gray, and I briefly considered bailing.

I was very glad I didn't, as by the time I got on the lift (about 20 minutes after leaving work), the sky was blue again. I enjoyed six laps of great spring skiing and headed home. It's looking like spring but there's still snow; hopefully it sticks around for at least the next two weekends when they've got Jordan scheduled to spin.

This weekend I skied at Jay for the first time since Feb. 2020 and the subsequent pandemic lockdowns, plus life getting in the way. Those of us who hadn't been there for a while were surprised at how little snow there was, given the recent storms. My brother, who skis there fairly regularly responded with "but there was no base!" Anyhoo, despite the number of closed trails, there was still plenty of fun to be had if you didn't mind the damp windy weather on Friday and Saturday. Sunday was glorious, with a skim of fresh snow and sunshine. If the rain holds off and temps stay coolish, they have several more weekends to go, especially on the Jet, Haines, Vermonter, Northwaay, Goat, etc. If you go with low expectations, you'll have a great day. Certain higher elevation closed glades are still skiing well.
